Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX Review (Guide 2023)

Review of the Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX

If you have been playing with Nerf blasters for quite a while, you must be aware of the great quality of the old gaming equipment used to have. Those blasters simply used to last longer and were much sturdier than some of the blasters available in the market today.

Now here I am not talking about Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX review ancient blasters that came out in the late 90s or 80s but the ones that came about more than a decade ago. Hasbro first released this blaster in 2008 and to date, it is one of the best Nerf blasters available in the market, and I say this from my firsthand experience.

It is a successful blaster mainly due to its features and how smoothly functions. All players prefer a blaster that is easy to handle and even more convenient to shoot with, and this blaster has all these qualities. Its popularity, therefore, cannot be undermined because it rightfully deserves all-stars.

In the following guide, I am going to describe all features of this product in great detail. Since I have been using it in the arena on and off for almost 12 years, I now understand all bits and pieces of this blaster too well. And in this review, I am going to share all that information with you so you can decide for yourself whether you want to own this blaster or not.

I am going to mention the pros and cons of this blaster as well so keep reading to get the insight.

Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX Background:

Originally, Worlds of Wonder, an American toy company was the one to create the Nerf Lazer Tag brand. They took a great start and provided great service to the blaster’s world but they ceased their operations back in 1990. This is when the Lazer Tag Brand was then acquired by another product invention company called Shoot the Moon. Later this Lazer Tag Brand was licensed to another toy manufacturer named Tiger Electronics.

In 1998, Hasbro acquired Tiger Electronics and as a consequence, the Lazer Tag Brand became a prominent addition to the Hasbro line of products. Ever since the Lazer Tag Brand became a part of Hasbro, numerous great products have been introduced by them, and even before that – in the 1980s, they provided us with great gaming equipment.

Following their tradition of providing us with the best of the best, they introduced the nerf laser tag Phoenix LTX in 2008 which turned out to be one of the most successful blasters. This series, however, was discontinued in 2012 as Nerf released a new series consisting of laser tag blasters. This series was called Laser Ops and it was released in the same year.

I believe one of the best things about this great blaster is that although the series has been discontinued a decade ago, this blaster is still available to be sold and you can order it online from Amazon whenever you like. The process is smooth and swift.

One thing, however, I need to mention is that you will not be able to buy the blaster in toy stores as it is not available there anymore. But you can always find it on Amazon.

Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX Features:

In the following section, I shall be discussing the most important and also brilliant features of this blaster. So stay with me to know more:

1. Works perfectly both Indoors and Outdoors:

The blasters that are venue specific can be a bit of a hassle. Many players prefer blasters that can be switched to both indoor as well as outdoor playing grounds. This blaster comes with automatic settings for indoor and outdoor playing grounds and the only you have to do is change the location on the blaster and set it accordingly before starting the game.

There is not much of a difference between the settings. The minute differences, however, are the shooting range which is great for the outdoors playing ground and not as much for the indoors.

2. Team Play and solo Option:

There are two different game modes on the blaster and you can switch to whichever one you want to play with. You can either choose the solo mode which you can use to play against a friend or team mode while playing in teams. The solo option in this blaster implies that it is a free-for-all option and all players play for themselves. In this mode, the players battle against all their opponents, and a solo winner is the determinant.

In the team mode, you can play this laser tag game by being a member of different teams. You are also not allowed to tag your teammates and the team with the most winning points collectively. Although one team can have multiple players, the teams cannot be changed once the game has started.

On the plus side, you can buy multiple laser tag phoenix sets and all players can play in the form of a team and have a competitive game.

3. Strength Switch:

One of the best things a blaster can have is to have an ammunition indicator on it. It is awesome because it keeps you up to date about the ammo you are left with. If you are playing the game with this blaster and have run out of ammo, all you have to do is to press the power core release button and then put it back into the Lazer tag blaster.By doing this you become fully loaded with ammunition again and can continue playing the game and being a fierce player.

Another amazing feature this blaster has is the strength switch. This is there to announce when the player will get eliminated and especially after a certain number of hits they have taken. The numbers are fixed and cannot be changed during the game. It is either 10 or 25.

If the team is large then the normal number of lives is up to 25 because the players get hit more often than. In case of one against battle, normally option 10 is chosen as these games last for a shorter time.

4. Sound and Light Effects:

One of my favorite features about this blaster is that it has some cool sounds and light effects. Every time you shoot, it comes off with vibration, sound, and light effects. This effect helps the players understand what’s happening in the game and act accordingly.

5. Batteries:

Whereas the batteries help the blasters function swiftly and smoothly, they are also a hassle to collect. This Nerf laser tag Phoenix LTX blaster required 6 AA batteries to function, which to me, is the con of this otherwise great blaster.

The batteries, however, last for a great time though. You just have to make one mindful investment. And instead of 6, you have to buy 12 AA batteries. To insert the batteries in the blaster, you will need a screwdriver.

6. Shield Activation:

One unique and cool feature this blaster has is the activation shield button. This feature allows you to protect or shield yourself from being shot at for a certain amount of time and hits. The only downside of this feature is that when you activate this feature, you cannot shoot at your opponents either.

This feature is a strategic one. For instance, if you are surrounded by opponents on all sides then it will be a very smart move to press the button and activate this support because it will then protect you from being shot at and escape the situation easily.

But one thing you have to be mindful is of that you can use this feature a limited number of times so it is essential that you use it wisely and do not waste away this feature.

Bottom Line:

In this guide about Nerf Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX Review, I thoroughly reviewed every feature of this blaster. The best features are most probably the lighting and sound features along with this activation shield, albeit it does have one downside. The blaster operates on batteries which is both a pro and a con because batteries make the blaster’s performance more efficient and effective but at the same time, you fetch and collect them as most of the time batteries are not included in the package.

You can weigh the pros against the cons and see for yourself that for this blaster, the pros outweigh the cons and it is one of those blasters one can never regret buying. Moreover, this blaster gives you the option to change your location and play the game either indoors or outdoors depending on the choice of your teammates and yourself as well.

The settings are different for both locations but they vary only slightly. The playing mode of the blaster can also be changed depending on the number of players and the kind of game you want to play. In simple words, you have got plenty of options with this blaster and you can choose whatever works best for you.

I hope you will find this guide helpful. Do let me know in the comments what you think about this blaster.
